Anybody But Trump and Clinton

This the nature of our predicament.

The majority of Americans want neither Donald Trump nor Hillary Clinton.

That’s why our Trump Clinton 2016 election is a dumpster fire.

As my son explained – it’s not only trash.

It’s trash on fire.

And walking the hallways of the Quicken Loans Arena this morning, you realized that the riot is not outside the arena, but inside.

The majority of Republican delegates don’t want Donald Trump.

And this is being confirmed right now inside Quicken Loans Arena – as the anti-Trump delegates are in open revolt and in a shouting match with the Trump delegates. (The Trump forces refused to allow for a roll call vote on rules. A roll call vote would have threatened Trump’s nomination.)

The center of the Anybody But Trump movement -- Kendal Unruh – a high school history teacher,  has led the insurgency against Trump.

Unruh is a Ted Cruz conservative, but her view is – Anybody But Trump.

When I met Unruh this morning, a Trump supporter was interrupting an MSNBC interview with Unruh.

The Trump supporter asked Unruh – aren’t you doing this just to become a celebrity – isn’t that the reason you are doing this – to raise money – to just steal the nomination away from someone?

“If I didn’t love my country so much, I wouldn’t be doing this,” Unruh said to the Trump supporter.

Another Anybody But Trump activist – Mike McCrary from Washington, wants the primaries to be closed - open to only Republicans.

He believes the reason that Trump won the primaries was because so many were open primaries – open to Democrats and Independents.

“Open primaries made the difference for Trump,” McCrary said. “Many Democrats and Independents crossed over. Probably ten million Democrats and Independents were in that 13.5 million who voted for Trump. That was actually a minority of true Republicans who actually voted for Trump.”

“It’s my sense that there is not enough delegate support on the floor to give Trump the nomination,” McCrary said.

Even though the Unruh forces have been identified as part of the Ted Cruz machine, McCrary, who also supports Cruz, says that “our movement has not been about getting one particular man in there.”

“It’s been about preserving the delegate voice,” McCrary said.
